On 1 January 2017, we started the implementation of a project co-financed by the European Union under the Operational Program called Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness. The project is focused on creating new and deepening current ties between business and research entities, strengthening the mutual ties of entities at the regional, national and especially the international (European) level. The common denominator of the project is Industry 4.0, to which CTPE has long been committed as a nationwide engineering platform. CTPE, along with its members, fulfills the mission of the Industry 4.0. An important output of the project will be Technological foresight of engineering.
The aim of the project is to update strategic documents SVA, IAP for the next strategic period, preparation and implementation of technological foresight with the help of specialized and expert groups, composed of representatives of CTPE members and selected external collaborators. It was necessary to perform various analyzes and defining the development trends of their dissemination between the membership base of the platform and the professional public. This will be possible also due to the deepening and expansion of cooperation between the research and business spheres and at the same time thanks to the deepening of active cooperation with ETP ManuFuture. At the same time, according to these trends, the platform will support the involvement of its members in European research programs (e.g. H2020), in the form of information technology support and the application of networking.

The REGIOPOPULAR project was focused on the popularization of research and development (R&D) results in mechanical engineering, a field that generates a third of the Czech Republic's GDP and is the basis of the competitiveness of the Czech economy. At the same time, it intends to encourage interest in technical fields at secondary schools and universities, in order to provide an educated workforce for the sector of mechanical engineering, including research and development. The project was designed for primary school pupils, high school and university students, academic and research staff of universities and research institutes in 4 regions (Plzen, Karlovy Vary, Southern Czechia and Central Bohemian). The project was prepared by a 9-member consortium, led by the research organization COMTES FHT, and project was designed for three levels of schools (primary, secondary and tertiary). Within 13 months, a series of twenty different forms of popularization was prepared for this broad target group in six key activities. In total, more than 1.210 people were supported and involved in the project, of which half were high school students. The project was synergistic with two implemented projects from the OP VaVpI - Operational Program Research and Development for Innovation, and it followed the OP VK projects (Operational Program Education for Competitiveness) from calls No. 44 and No. 35.

The POPULAR project was focused on the popularization of research and development (R&D) results in mechanical engineering, a field that generates a third of the Czech Republic's GDP and is the basis of the competitiveness of the Czech economy. At the same time, its ambitions were to encourage interest in technical fields at secondary schools and universities, with the aim of providing an educated workforce to the industry and the research and development itself. The project was intended for primary school pupils, high school and university students, academic and research staff of universities and research institutes in 4 Czech regions (Plzen, Karlovy Vary, Southern Bohemia and Central Bohemia). The project was prepared by a seven-member consortium, led by the research organization COMTES FHT, and it was designed for all levels of schools (primary, secondary and tertiary). Within 24 months, a series of 14 different forms of popularization (in five main activities - type A, B) as well as additional education, was prepared for such broad target group. In total, more than 1.200 people were supported, of which half of them were high school and university students. The purpose of the project was expanding contacts and cooperation between universities and the private and public sectors, which has helped to improve readiness of competitive workforce. This cooperation was mutually beneficial - students brought new theoretical knowledge and a fresh view of problem solving into the practice, and on the contrary, experts from practice applied their experience in teaching. Conferences, interactive workshops and so-called winter schools also contributed to the development of cooperation and professional competencies. As part of the project, foreign internships were supported as well as participation of foreign experts in interactive workshops, which enabled not only the improvement of professional and language competencies of the persons involved, but above all the increase of international cooperation (joint R&D projects). The project supported the creation of two project offices, including the development of the competencies of their staff, who strengthened R&D at universities and deepened their mutual cooperation on research projects.
Basic activities:
-
Internships and professional internships of students and young researchers
-
International internships and professional internships of students and academic staff
-
Development of interactive cooperation between institutions (information days with project partners, conferences, workshops, etc.)
-
Interactive "winter school" for the development of professional competencies and cooperation
-
Creation of project offices at FEK UWB and EF TUL (development of cooperation, methodological support of R&D projects)
-
Development of the Engineering Platform and its cooperation with universities (interdisciplinarity)
The role of CTPE in the project:
CTPE as a project partner implemented a key activity Development of the Engineering Platform and its cooperation with universities, which is closely connected with other activities.
The following activities were carried out within this key activity:
-
trips of platform members abroad to the workplaces of technological platforms
-
development of the platform and transfer of acquired experience to students of the UWB in Pilsen (interactive workshops)
-
involvement of experts from abroad and from practice in the Czech Republic in teaching and interactive workshops
-
acquisition of young researchers and students as collaborators of the platform for its further development extension of cooperation also to the Technical University in Liberec
-
CTPE also worked as a mediator of mutual cooperation between entities in the field of creating joint projects (especially R&D).

SVA engineering of the Czech Republic for the period 2010–2020
On May 1, 2009, the civic association Czech Technology Platform of Engineering started the implementation of a project co-financed by the European Union under the Operational Program Enterprise and Innovation. The project entitled Development of the Engineering Technology Platform has a total budget of CZK 6,670,000, of which the amount of the subsidy provided is CZK 5,000,000.
The Czech Technology Platform of Engineering (CTPE) is an umbrella platform in the field of mechanical engineering in the Czech Republic and consists of 33 entities of three types: • technical universities in the Czech Republic, which include the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, • major companies and research institutions • professional associations. There are not many platforms, i.e. clusters, in the Czech Republic that would enable the interconnection of academic, research and industrial potential, leading to the development of technological fields and high growth potential. The established Czech Technology Platform of Engineering is the first in this area, which is extremely important from the point of view of the Czech economy. The whole implementation is divided into 3 annual stages. The subject of the 1st ongoing stage is the creation of the document Strategic Research Agenda. The key activity of the 2nd stage, which will start in May 2010, will be the elaboration of the Strategic Research Agenda, or rather the creation of selected branch Strategic Research Agendas. In April 2011, the final 3rd stage will start and its output will be the elaboration of the Implementation Action Plan. The whole project will last until April 30, 2012.
